Russian company starts creating fully electric jet engine
MOSCOW, Apr 14 (PRIME) -- Russian company Ecolibri has started engineering a fully electric 10–200 kilowatt jet engine for passenger aircraft and heavy drones, Alexei Rogozin, head of the research and development council of the company, told PRIME ùò Friday.
"The electric engine EM-01 created by Ecolibri is a prototype of a first aircraft engine of a new generation. Such engines can be used in electric passenger planes, including those with a vertical take-off and landing, and drones," Rogozin said.
“We believe that these technologies can be further used in car and shipbuilding.”
He added that the engines would not depend on imports.
